About MeI am a Registered Psychotherapist and I specialize in counselling teens, young adults, and their families. I have a private psychotherapy practice in Bolton, Ontario.
With over 20 years of experience working with youth and parents in several settings, I bring a tremendous amount of relevant experience to my work. I have provided counselling to adolescents in schools, residential and day treatment programs, foster homes, and at an accredited children's mental health center, and I continue to be involved in the counselling program at a high school in Woodbridge. I have also contributed to the development of a training program for mental health providers, "Bringing Family Engagement into Action." My qualifications include a Masters degree in Counselling with a specialization in Counselling Psychology, a BA in Psychology, and a Diploma in Child and Youth Work. I am also a certified professional member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), and a nationally certified TF-CBT therapist. I work with clients and families to understand and overcome challenges, and to build strong communication and trust in the process. My approach is respectful, collaborative, and positive. I believe in a multifaceted approach to counselling, which integrates emotional, cognitive, physical, relational, and spiritual well-being. Some theories and counselling approaches that inform my practice include: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (TF-CBT) Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) Interpersonal Psychotherapy for Depressed Adolescents (IPT-A) Neuropsychology Family Systems Theory Developmental Theory |
